Daring play a Series first

A rare dash on the bases by Johnny Damon puts the Yankees one win from their 27th title. » Full Story on Y! Featured

Did anybody saw it in Sunday game that the Home Umpire missed the call on J. Damon 3rd . strike after Johnny hit one on the right stand , one on the left stand and he swung and missed the next one , yet the umpire called strike 2 instead strike 3 and Yankee may not have has the 3 runners on the 8th inning ...CAN YOU BELIEVE IT ??? MBL , where are you ??? The MLB should investigate , maybe those umpires get cash on the side from the Yahkees , hotel and other " good treats"...it is well know the umpires to..." miss" calls lately on the Yankees games !

R.

In 40 years of playing and watching Ihave never seen anything like it.
Gabby, you are either a Red Sox or a Met fan. If you are speaking of his last at bat, he fouled what would have been strike three off and the ball went under the catchers glove
and wound up behind him as the ump gave him another ball.
Granted he barely got a piece of it and Tim McCarver eluded to the fact that he "JUST got a piece of that one".
Do you not think the catcher would know if he hadn't foul tipped it ?

Good thing the Yankees aren't playing the Cardinals. The Cards are 3 for 4 against the Yankees in World Series play. For all of you "The Yankees are the Greatest Team in Baseball" smucks, how come they can't get past the Saint Louis Cardinals? So what if they beat the Phillies? The Cards historic win/lose ratio is higher than the Yankees. Look it up. But, you have to go back before the 1901 reorganization of baseball to get the whole truth. The Cards play baseball, the Yankees purchase championships.

SLC = World Series titles (10) 2006 1982 1967 1964 1946 1944 1942 1934 1931 1926 & NL Pennants (17) 2006 2004 1987 1985 1982 1968 1967 1964 1946 1944 1943 1942 1934 1931 1930 1928 1926

The Cards are 10/17 in WS play or 59% of the time they get in. The NYYs are 26/39 or 67% of the time. In fact, the Ys have won 25% of all the WS played.

So, I guess the Ys have both the most wins, and the highest percentage of winning while in it (10 or more WS played) in MLB.

none of this will matter when the phillies win.i am so unbiased that you all should listen to one thing about umpires....would you have seen any of the missed calls if you didnt have the benefit of 5 different replays from different angles????umps are human.if you think they are payed off by teams ...then maybe you should not watch at all.mark my words right here right now...this series will go to game 7 and the phils will win.
