Next steps for gay marriage

Maine's vote to reject gay marriage was decisive, but supporters see a silver lining. » Full Story on Y! Featured

Gay marriage is coming soon to a state near you. One day, we might actually be a free country. This not about homos or if you agree or disagree with the lifestyle. This is about America, land of freedom, choice, liberty, and human rights. Freedom of and from religion. This is a civil rights issue. Bottom line.

The idea of gay sex might personally disgust me, but it doesn't hurt me. As long as it's two concentual adults, it's their business.

How would you like it if everything you wanted to do was decided by other people?

Go ahead though, spend your whole life hating. It'll only hurt *you*.

Gays and Lesbians need to get on with their lives and quit trying to involve everyone else in it. We don't accept your notion of "marriage", so live your lifestyle and let us live what is traditionally accepted as marriage. You don't qualify for special treatment just because you decided to live an alternative lifestyle.

In one of the most liberal blue New England states, this is not only a surprise but a complete shocker to the rest of the country. Just goes to show that a majority of Americans still believe in the traditional foundation of marriage: one man and one woman.

Call us haters all you want but it will not change the fact that the people voted, the people spoke, and that Constitutional principle itself should not be imposed. You can make it legal all you want but it's not gonna make it right.

There would be no state's that approve of gay marriage if the popular vote was used. Connecticut's decision was left to 4 legislators and they were light in the loafers.

Call us haters because we don't believe in same sex marriage but you are wrong. We believe in the marriage of a man and woman and it has and should always be that way. I do not hate gay people I just think they need to step back and quit trying to make all of us including our children that this is the norm. Do what you want but don't try to make yourselves out to be normal like hetersexual couples.
You have the right to live together just don't expect us to agreed with what is very very wrong.

Yes, look ahead to a Constitutional bans on gay marriage in Newyork and Mass.
Cry all you want, you can't confuse enough people with your circle and silly agruements about it being a civil or human right., Of course, it's not a right. Of course, you are just trying to get your sexual activities condoned by the magority.
You spread hate against religion, hate against straight people, hate against what's we all learned in biology class.. You viciously go after anyone that disagrees with you, physicallly beating up old woman with crosses, beauty pageant contestants and political figures like Sarah Palin who has at all gone after YOU in the least bit.
Obama is more anti gay marriage than Palin or Cheney yet you allow yourselves to be convinced by hype and propaganda that the opposite is true.
Are you even surprised about this vote in liberal Maine ?

Gay Americans are only 10% of the U.S. population. How can a minority civil rights issue be put for vote against a a religious founded majority. I's wrong & coward. African Americans Civil Rights were not put for vote, otherwise we wouldn't have a Black President today. And have I mention that 20% of this country does not believe in God. I don't care what gay marriage is called, just give gay civil unions the same rights and benefits as civil marriages give to straight couples. I am a American Citizen, I work hard and pay a lot of taxes. I WANT THE RIGHTS THAT I DESERVE AS A AMERICAN CITIZEN. ENOUGH OF THE CHURCH PEOPLE TELLING ME WHAT I CAN HAVE.

The Bible does say it's a sin to be a homosexual. Right next to where it says if you shave or cut your hair, you need to be stoned to death. (Lev. 19:27)

You can sell your daughter into slavery (Exodus 21:7)

It's ok to own slaves (Lev. 25:44)

If someone works on Sunday, they need to be put to death (Exodus 35:2)

blah blah blah I can keep going...

thank GOD they got defeated. This is morally wrong and one thing this country needs is a higher moral standard all together. Go back in the closet and stay there, it offends me to see your gay crap all over the news, and to have to try to explain to my kids why a man and man or woman and woman are kissing they way they see mommy and daddy kiss. This is a victory for morality, let the victories keep on comming.

Straight marriage should be banned! There is a 50+ percent divorce rate. That can't make God happy.

No one is being denied the right to marriage. It is just that a male homosexual has to marry a female homosexual. They just have to keep looking for that right person and not give up.

Mary Bonauto, one of the nation's top lawyers involved in the campaign to legalize gay marriage. "It's about aligning promises found in the Constitution with America's laws.

Hypocrites!!! How dare these left wing lunatics sight the Constitution! If they cared so much about the Constitution they would be protecting our borders from Illegal Aliens and Terrorists.

For one to disagree with the notion of gay marriage is not hate. If you disagree with me I won't accuse you of hate. Last I remember this is a free country where we have the right to disagree with having ad hominum labels tossed at us. Marriage will always be and should be between a man and woman. I agree that Gays should have the same rights as a married straight couple but I disagree that it should be labeled "marriage". Let it be called a partnership. Leave the marriage title to straight people. Create your own title with the same rights as ours and don't tread on us.

If someone can't enjoy the same rights as other people can, then they shouldn't have to pay taxes.

Yet another chance for civil rights people to scream. Terrific. I'm not against gays and lesbian couples. They should have the same benefits and legalities as hetero couples, but don't label it marriage. Marriage is a man and a woman...End of story. Civil Union, Life Partners, whatever politically correct term you'd like. Equal rights? YES, but call it something else.

Gay lifestyle/marriage is a sin. When I was a 14yo Boyscout I would
hitch hike to scout meetings. Grown gay men would pick me up and
try to put the make on me. I would make them stop and get out of the car. Part of their gay agenda is for kids 16 and older be old enough to
consent to sex. They are sick, sick people. Perfect example: BFL Rosie.

Maine's vote is a setback for sure, but this issue isn't going away. Gay marriage will one day be legal everywhere. It might take years or decades, but it will happen.

America is about equal rights for all, not equal rights unless the majority says 'no'. If it can't be done by ballot measures or legislative action, it will be done by court decision. This is why we have independent courts -- to protect the rights of minorities against the whims of the majority.

The gay marriage movement isn't trying to tell anyone how to live their lives. They're trying to change laws so that a minority group can live their lives how they want, wherever they want, without prejudice.

This is a sad day, the more gays that can marry = less families and less stable children for the future of this filth ridden 3rd world country called the USA. If you queers would have just shut the **** up for a few minutes you might have gotten away with it. Great, just great!
