I personally don't see anything wrong with Burqas...as long as they don't wear anything under them. Hot, hot, hot.
I can see where the Taliban might get a little bit fanned out about them.
Good for these women. Taliban men need to beome human beings, and stop judging others and playing God. Look to yourself and let others look to themselves, God will sort them all out in His good time. God doesn't need your help, Why? BECAUSE HE IS GOD
I think it is important that Muslims worldwide recognize that bigotry toward them by Westerners is really directed at the prudes within their community, and that if Muslims were able to operate within a diverse society, which is what is being expressed by this fashion show, the bigotry would dissipate. It is the prudeness that limits freedom that creates the warfare because people cannot be enslaved for long. If Islam means submission to God, it should not mean enslavement to prudes.
It is obvious the people want to live free lives and not be forced to follow the extremists idea of religion. Continue to crush the Taliban and all other extremists until they stop persecuting the innocent.
This is a really poorly researched article. People dress like this in karachi all the time, the taliban has jack all to do with anything.
"This is our gesture of defiance to the Taliban ?? OH Yea
Pakistan Army and pakistani public can not and will not defy Taliban
simply because
"Pakistan is Taliban and Taliban is pakistan"
sooner or later Taliban ought to take over weak pakistan goverment!
Wow. Those are some beautiful women. Pakistani men should be proud of them and protect them to their last drop of blood. I'd hate to see the Taliban take over their country and nuclear arsenal and force us to obliterate them. What a waste that would be.
KARZAI HAS TO ""STOP BIENG A WIMP"" AND STAND UP LIKE A MAN AGAINST THE EXTREMISTS --NO PACTS NO PLACE TO RUN ,NO MORE MR TERRORIST VIOLANCE, LOOK AT THESE WOMEN STAND UP FOR THIER DESIRES AND WANT WITH OUT KARZAI, ****KARZAI LEAD YOUR PEOPLE OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY**
You know what this is? Absolute hubris. It is rubbish.
Karachi is a global city of Pakistan like Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco etc... Its been the hub of fashion and music along with other major Pakistani cities for decades!!!
This is not the "first fashion show." Karachi has these shows and others activities, arts performances, science and nuclear symposiums, rock concerts and elitist vulgarities EVERY DAY in some quadrant.
This shows the utter bigotry, fantasy and hubris that western journalism lives in: they are the feul on which the fire of our American neoliberal imperialism burns!
It was precisely these psuedo leftist socialist liberals of pakistani soceity who rallied around the most hated dictator in that country's history and our cheap slave/ally: Pervez Musharaf. (type in "Missing in Pakistan" in google videos for a sampling).
It is precisely thee psuedoliberals again (our veritable ass licking slaves) who butcher their poverty stricken people by taking OUR money and then present some cheap ass common place fashion show as some kind of "defiance".
LOL Defiance comes from the powerless not the powerful.
Taliban? What Taliban? That country hadn't sen ANY Taliban until 2007 when TTP (Movement of Taliban Pakistan) emerged after the country's dictaorial and modern puppet govt. followed our diktats and butchered their citizens: who now pick up guns to ri their country of this disease.
This is not to say that the "redneck" illiterae opressed poverty strcken and armed peasantry offer some enlightened alternative (such organic resistance coming from poor, illiterate quarters hardly ever does) . But they are on the right side of he moral conflict.
You guys, you SHEEP have no f***in idea of what's going on do You?
Ron Paul 2012!
What color do Burqua's come in? Our country is going down the tubes and this is actually a story here.
Gee I guess we want some more crap from how well the middle east is adjusting. GET OUT and get out NOW !
These lies, and bastardization and villification of entire PEOPLE's is how you destroy not only their societies, it is THEIR blood which comes back to haunt us, to which we ask "Why do they hate us"
and then the answer indubitably and predictably form our establishment?: It's the religion, they hate us because we are free. And guess what?
The lefto-fascists in the proxy regimes who we are happy to keep in power through ACTIVE inteference AGREE with us.

and
watch where these "terrorists" come from.
If those of you with a semblance of shame and fair mindedness knew the truth at the very least you would see the phenomena of Taliban in a different light. You would never root for "your side." (which includes the neo trotskyite neoconservatives, leftist internationalists, and conservative interventionists and much of our elites trained in Pan Americanism.
Because we are in the WRONG!
Say No to interventionism.
Yes to liberty.

Vox, you have anger issues and need to calm down. Your posts are filled with politically-charged crap and your writing style is reminiscent of a college freshman taking his first course in world history. Save your spew for the coffee shop conversations with your like-minded extremist friends. Why? Because the more you type here on Buzz, the more you reveal just how ignorant and narrow-minded you truly are. That said, is anyone else bothered by an American journalist using the word "fashionista"? I don't think the Spanization of the English language should be encouraged.
...and amid all the humbug and superlatives you managed to spew here, not an iota of counter argument, or anything original.
Looks like you didn't benefit from my post at all. I do know a thing or two about the situation. It seems after barely scrutinizing the first two sentences, you hurriedly typed something thinking "Ha! crap, I know and can write better than Vox. let me sh8 flail a little."
That doesn't benefit anyone. Guessing that i'm a college student in order to hackle a point of view is very insulting...to yourself. Someone's age shouldn't be a hurdle for a discourse.
''sack-likeburqa'??!!! WTF.yea there are sack like burqas. like 1 in a MILLION. most burqas/abayas r extremely fashionable. there r designers who make millions of them. that statement is a culture attack.
