The inconvenient truth about Al Gore's Movie: An Inconvenient Truth

Nearly every significant statement Gore makes regarding climate science and climate policy is either one sided, misleading, exaggerated, speculative, or just plain wrong.

- the movie presents a graph tracking CO2 levels and global temperatures during the past 650,000 years, but never mentions that global temperatures were warmer than now during each of the past four interglacial periods, even though CO2 levels were lower.

- highlights London’s construction of the Thames River flood barrier as evidence of global warming-induced sea-level rise, but does not mention that London is sinking two to six times faster than global sea levels are rising.

- claims that polar bears “have been drowning in significant numbers,” but this is based on a single report that found four drowned polar bears in one month in one year, following an abrupt storm.

Cap and trade is not about preventing global warming. It is a mechanism to collect huge taxes from the American people for the global redistribution of wealth. No wonder all the little dictatorships around the world support it!

Congressman John Dingell (D-MI) on Cap-and-Trade:
"Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax, and it's a great big one."

I'm with the Republicans here, and Historian for that matter - the second part, as I never saw An Inconvenient Truth. Cap and Trade seems like a terribly complicated system that leaves businesses with plenty of opportunities to exploit, bribe and dodge emission goals.

"In a statement, the Republicans said they would oppose the bill until they had a "comprehensive analysis" of the economic impact of the legislation from the federal watchdog agency, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)."

Instead of making the EPA larger and broadening it's powers, it should be working with individual industries to cut pollution. Larger and wealthier businesses will obviously come first, so the EPA should be targeting them initially and move along to medium and smaller businesses. Businesses that "go green" should receive a tax cut. That's all this legislation should be, a tax cut for companies that reduce emissions by a certain amount by a given date.

The United States can't fix the world's pollution problems alone, but we can show that lowering carbon emissions can be profitable.

Isn't it funny how the liberal media only reports on ice melting and no reports on the cooling temps or heavy rain and snow early in the season and when they do it is because of "climate change". Al is trying to make a few more billion while being on of the biggest energy hogs in the country. Every time the theory of global warming oh sorry climate change is proven wrong there is a new excuse. Notice the name change when nobody bought the "Warming" crap.

Funny how socialists are so worried about future generation's climate but don't give a flying flip about their economic stability.

No.... it's all 'PRINT AND SPEND" (they have formally skipped the tax and borrow portions and are now simply printing worthless dollars).

It appears to me that global warming and evolution need to keep searching for those missing links.

A tax credit does sound better than a tax.

I need a bipartisan method to research the science and economics of this. Any suggestions?

Is interesting that perpetual 30% increase in price of energy for taxpayer is perfectly acceptable to California Senator Boxer.
But one time charge to study effect of her legislation somehow is the egregious waste of money.
We must get politic out of this discussion so scientific community can do what they do best - solve problems.

"The US House bill calls for cutting US greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020 and by 83 percent by 2050."

So we can also expect a cut in jobs, standard of living and a drop in GDP.
I think it will be nice to live in a 3rd world country and I dont even have to get a passport.

Here is an extremely interesting article from Feb. 2009.
It's kinda spooky because it lays out just what is happening now.
Yahoo won't ley me put it up because it was already buzzed up months ago.

Al Gore 'profiting' from climate change agenda
Written by Nick Allen, Telegraph
Tuesday, November 03 2009 14:40

The former US vice president is in line to make a large profit from a firm producing smart meters which monitor household electricity use.

He is a partner in a Silicon Valley venture capital firm which invested £45 million in Silver Spring Networks, a small California company which has been developing technology to monitor household power use to make the electricity grid more efficient.

Last week the US Energy Department announced £2 billion in grants and a proportion of that, thought to be more than £305 million, will go to utility operators with which Silver Spring has contracts.

Kilimanjaro falsely connected to Global Warming
Written by Tony Pann, Baltimore Examiner
Tuesday, November 03 2009 12:01

Kilimanjaro is a volcano near the equator in Africa and the tallest peak on the continent that rises 19,340 ft above sea level. Temperatures there never get above freezing. Not that they aren't suppose to, but a weather station on top of the volcano shows that they still don't get above freezing. That is a major point here, and a contrast to the widely reported story just released by AP about disappearing ice caps. The ice has shrunk (although data dates back to 2007), but the reason is in dispute. An Austrian group of scientists headed by Georg Kaser at The University of Innsbruck conducted research along with The University of Otago, New Zealand, and the University of Massachusetts and found that the ice issue is not being explained accurately.

Newsweek Editor Calls Al Gore 'An Eco-Prophet'
Written by Noel Sheppard, newsbusters.org
Tuesday, November 03 2009 09:21

"Al Gore's views on climate change are advancing as rapidly as the phenomenon itself."

Such was Newsweek science editor Sharon Begley's sub-headline of her proselytizing piece "The Evolution Of An Eco-Prophet."

Fortunately for the Goracle's loyal followers, Begley didn't ask him how the planet could possibly have cooled the past eleven years despite his warnings about the plague "carbon dioxide."

The original UN consortium on global warming was comprised of 40,000 "scientists" (they were NOT unanimous in their support & many were merely beaurocrats). Of those original scientist, only about 20,000 still believe in man-caused global warming.

More than 30,000 reputable working scientists, many with PHDs & many specializing in weather, have signed on in opposition of man-caused global warming.

Scientists opposing the notion of global warming, especially man-caused by CO2 emissions, are now the MAJORITY, not the "fringe" in scientific opinion.

Today in an interview with Diane Sawyer, Al Gore related how a Texas wind farm was purchasing wind turbines completely manufactured in China!

Where's the "green jobs" Obama, Gore & the Left promised us? They go to China!

btw: ALL CFLs (compact flourecents) are made in China)

Cap & Trade is just a scam to "redistribute" our greatly increased utility payments to invest in trees and hydro power for other countries. Let's keep our investments here!

They know that 'climate change' (what? you mean it's cooling instead of warming now?) is made up in order to benefit the likes of Gore and Pelosi that invested *heavily* in so-called 'green' energies to boost their bank accounts. It's just one more hoax for corrupt politicians to laugh their asses off at the stupid average 22 year old watching American Idol.
