Fla. man says Home Depot fired him over God button

AP – In this undated photo from video, Trevor Keezer is shown in front of The Home Depot in Okeechobee, Fla. … WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A former cashier for The Home Depot who has been wearing a " One nation under God" button on his work apron for more than a year has been fired, he says because o... » Full Story on news.yahoo.com

Ridiculous to think they are going to sue over this. They didn't say Don't bring your bible, just don't put God on your uniform. That's why they call it a uniform, Good for them!

Amazing how this country of ours has lost all common sense. Hopefully the Home Depot customers pay attention to this and properly respond by shopping elsewhere!!

Once again because a person believes in God and country he is punished. I really wonder what is wrong here, and Home Depot I am very surprised by you "policy"

Just do your job. HD didn't hire this guy to provide for him a platform for his religious beliefs. Home Depot should be allowed to keep their business religiously neutral.

If this guy had a muslim button on, or was canned for reading the koran, all hell would have broke loose, and al sharpton would have been there in a hot atlanta minute. But, since he is christian, he gets the shaft. If he had worn it for over a year, then why now the hullabaloo? In God We Trust is on our money, but have you seen the new coins? Not on it.

I think that this is ridiculous. This nation was founded by God. Our founding fathers worshipped the One True God. Trevor Keezer should not have been fired for wearing something that says "God" on it. Reading the Bible is not a crime either. The Bible is God's Holy Word and it teaches us how to live daily. It is very sad that America is going downhill.

I think it is garbage that they fired him over a button. There are a lot of issues about taking God out of the money and pleadge of allegiance and anything else. We wouldnt be here without God. I think different of Home Depot now! He should be allowed to wear his button and keep his job.

So, what? He doesn't get my sympathy. I bet he did it on purpose so he could get fired and file a lawsuit! After all, US is the land of lawsuits!!!!

I know where I won't be doing my shopping. It looks like I will be going to Lowes or Menards more. I am sorry but when they start taking god out of our language that's when I get angry.. God Bless America, and the freedom of speach.

I will not be shopping at Home Depot in the future and will be advising my contracting companies to do the same.

I am tired of companies that try to control others over stuff like this. He wore the pin for a year and they are just now saying something. It was when he brought his bible - then they decided to make an issue out of it.

Boycott Home Depot! Make it hurt for them. Guess they are atheists there. Plenty of other choices to shop. I would rather do business with a company that is proud of America. Guess they are not!

This Country is going to Hell in a hand basket. What is wrong with America here. As a retired Service Member of the US Army I am pissed with the way business would rather bend over to please everyone just for the sake of making one Dollar. The fact remains is that no one want to rock the boat and wants to be Politically correct as to not to offend anyone at all. But I am offended and so are hundreds of thousand more Americans by the acts of the GREEDY businesses. I support this person for standing for his beliefs. Would he be fired if he wore a Arab head dress to work?

Typical...offend many to protect the rights of a few athiests. This kid wearing a button, or even a big cross around his neck for that matter would offend very few athiests (I think).

This is outrageous!. People really need to stay away from Home Depot in support of this young man.

the nation was founded by men and women that believed in one God, but didnt they put int he constitution the separation of church and state. Um, im guessing thats why we do not have an official religion in this country just like we dont have an official language.

I think he ought to sue their asses. Not being able to declare my beliefs offends me! In God We Trust, not these silly politicians that re-invent the constitution.

This guy did what he believed in however I personally feel that with the slow economy, employers not hiring that much and a possibility that he wont get unemployment because he was fired he should just take off the pin when he's at work and put it back on when he's off the clock. However I will also state this, if it's company policy and he knew about it when he started there, why did it take the manager a year to even warn him about it?
