Black & Decker hasn't been Black & Decker for years. My dad had an old B & D drill. He bought it in the 60's. It was a pain in the neck to change the bits, but it worked! It died about 3 years ago. The new one lasted about a year. He bought a replacement battery, but the problem was the drill itself. B & D now stands for Bull(S***) and Drek!
If Stanley started building the Webco Monoshock this conversation would be over! One time I bermed off a whoop-de-do triple jacknife shaftcrotch style and endo'ed out to 77 mph uphill. Back tire was all melted then I crashed the gate doin 98. Let the Monoshock roll. 10-4.
Neither company has made quality products for years. Both were premier companies at one time but have failed to keep up with technologies and let quality slide. Some of the old Stanley tools are worth a fortune if you can find them for sale some where.
How does the companies get so far out of the loop. So far out of touch. Whats with america and the " I dont care what you like, I dont care what your attracted to". Whats wrong with America? Do you not want to go foward? You have to many blue hairs in your way. America Could be great but White people I have to say, You really in the way. Share or lose your toys altogether.
Does anyone know if either of these companies still do any manufacturing in the U.S.? I would have to think that with as many employees that they have that they still must do some here, anybody know? It's so difficult to find anything made here but if they are still making stuff here I will buy it, that is the only way we'll ever get out of this recession, which contrary to our bulls**t politicians we are a long way from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to heck with d&d and stanley the best tool on the market today is RIDGID
BEST QUALITY AND BEST WARRENTY.
dON
Both of these companies at one time were known for quality. But in the push to reduce cost they have reduced quality. Once you get the reputation for poorly made products it takes a long time to regain peoples trust.
Remember when American tool companies were the best quality you could find. Craftsman used to have a life time warranty on their tools, and because of that it was the only brand of power tool I would buy. Until I tried to return the cordless drill that stopped working after less than a year. They said they no longer have the life time warranty, on power tools, only on hand tools.
If Stanley or Black and Decker would make a top quality product, and stand behind it, they would out sell every other maker in the industry.
Standley once manufactured tape measures for both left or right handed people. Another inconvient truth, huh? The world should be Metric by now. What's the next gimmick, B&D?
Stanley makes the best utility knife Ive found. The quick release blade with a 5 pack reserve in handle. Ive bought 15 over my lifetime, they get lost or stolen...and I keep buying them. When they change the design I will no longer buy them. They're probably made in China now too. Thanks to all the gummint shenannigans NAFTA and GATT have almost wiped out our manuf base. Good job congress critters! PAYING companies to move overseas is immoral and should be criminal.
Greedy bastards!
Who cares about stanley or B&D neither one make tools anymore they buy them from the lowest bidder ( mostly China & Mexico ) and slap their name on it I need some good power tools but i would rather cut my d*ck off then buy chinese junk!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you look on Ebay you can find older tools that were made in the US and pay less for them & they last longer than new ones (not trying to plug ebay)
Stanley still makes quality tools, in the U.S.A. Black & Decker should improve there products up to the level of Dewalt, since they own them. This is another Walmart caused problem. They want to sell as cheap as they can, so the company's start to cut quality.
They have no quality control, they make speeches to manipulate the stock price, take their buy-outs and leave. American companies are filthy. No morals, no social conscience, no long term business plans. Pay the lobbyists to create a bs business environment that you can exploit for a few years, then blame the same government when things go south. F B&D and Stanley both.
Try blaming the Union for manufacturing being shipped overseas. If they weren't always asking for an arm and a leg, maybe we would have a better outcome all the way around. Think about it. You can't blame it ALL on the politicians.
Both companies main goal is to increase share holder profits. Not surpresed to see this article touting such as this, even though the only jobs being saved or added are at tax payers expense. Root cause being somewhere in our addiction to cheap goods and Walmart merchandising. All for the ride are our congress and senate reps who turn a blind eye to this kind of stuff and continue to keep their mouths shut and allow more companies to ship jobs overseas and ship imports back to the USA. The same day here Johnson and Johnson are patting themselves on the back for laying off about 8000 jobs too!!
regardless what manufacter tool yu buy , there all made by the ying yang fort. cookie comp. in china and sold at a wal-mart near yu.!!!!!
Any company that has a receiving warehouse just for broken tools in warranty and then offers you a refurb in place of the new one is in trouble. The quality of B&D is in the toilet. Stanley is American in name only. Everything is Chinese-made now.
“Well there are gang bangers in Chi Town. They're kinda like terrorists. And Chicago is one of the …”
