If a crack opens up and is filled by magma, then you have just created new earth that wasn't there before. Yet the same scientists that concede that this happens at the surface and the bottom of the ocean, still cling to plate techtonics, because its safe and familiar. The earth, like the universe, is expanding, and this how it happens. Will observing it firsthand finally convince the so-called experts that their Pangea theory is a complete joke.
