Cynthia Boaz: Independence Day for Everyone

I remember as a child that whenever the 4th of July rolled around, I would try earnestly to reflect on the significance of the holiday. That is not an easy task for a person submerged in the fanfare of commercialism and the somewhat superficial patriotism of flags and fireworks. I always understood that I was supposed to be grateful for something; that we were celebrating a day of great… » Full Story on Huffington Post

The people of Iran are risking their lives, and in some cases losing them, in a bid to gain their freedom. We need not risk so much to restore and retain our freedom, but for that to remain true we must vigorously use our right to petition our government for a redress of grievances. This means…

We must relentlessly increase our pressure, telling Congress to obey the Constitution, and to undo the constitutional violations they’ve already committed. Our pressure must keep increasing until the politicians demonstrate their submission to the Constitution. To make that happen…

We must apply more pressure each month than we did the previous month. We’re now nearing the end of June. To make sure we exceed the 36,512 messages we sent last month we’re going to ask you to hit Congress on two issues today, the REAL ID Act and Congressman Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill.

Good points, and flawed points together.

This country was founded not only on the concept of individuals ruling over their government (the oposite of the accepted standard of the worlds governments). It was also about breaking ties with foreign economies and more specifically with Great Britain.

The evidences listed in the Declaration of Independance are sited so future generations could be watchful and avoid the same gradual enslavement.

I challenge everyone to READ the Declaration of Independance and weigh those complaints in view of our current government. The similarities are sickening.

On July 4, 1776, representatives of the Continental Congress voted unanimously that, "These United Colonies are and of right ought to be Free and Independent States." Thirteen colonies voted to become something new in history—the United States of America. Now, all they had to do was to win their independence from a government that would consider them traitors.

Happy Birthday US of A!

Hmmm. Is it just me or is this country devoid of leadership in the most important day of her existence?

Today seems to be the most disjointed 4th of July I've ever witnessed.

"President Obama assisted this effort enormously when he spoke directly to tyrants who would "cling to power [by] silencing dissent" and that "we will hold out a hand if you will unclench your fist."

remember this when they try to silence your talk radio.

you blame America for everything.
you say the world hates us.
you demanded that we withdraw from iraq, and yet you demand that we help others fight for thier freedoms?

American soldiers died for our freedoms. They fought for thier coutnry and thier fellow citizens to be free. Each country must rise up and fight for it's own freedoms, just as we did.

cindy, if you and huffy want to bring freedom to the world, get off your fat asses and go fight for it YOURSELVES. enough of our boys and girls died for your bitches to have your free speech.

I can't speak for anyone else... However I served during Nam for my Country and my Comrades, six of whom lost their lives... I know what freedom costs... I live with it every day...

I feel sorry for those who do not...

Our orgional independence was from a government that over taxed it people and passed laws forcing unreasonable requirements from it population.
Kind of sounds like history repeating itself doesnt it

So considering the above facts, liberals do not deserve to reflect and enjoy independence day. Their day should be spent having the boot of the working middle class and our military broke off in their collective asses. Savor this one my fellow Americians, after 4 years of Obama, it my the very last free one we will ever have.

Right on "Y". Cynthia Boaz, why don't you take your sorry ass to France and live? Tyrants clinging to power? How about tyrants put in power by lies and corruption? Enjoy your crap, it will be over in 2012.

Anyway you look at it, the July 4th Independence Day is about American independence. Nothing else.

I read this article. I have read the responses from the vets and the average folks like me who resent the sorry anti-Americanism of the chattering classes and the left minority in this nation. I went to two parades today, marching in one, and I've got news for Ms. Boaz and her confused friends. Don't make the mistake the Japs made in 1941. Those of us who love this country and what it has done for us and our fellow citizens still outnumber those who feel otherwise. Try to reduce our freedom at your own peril. And W was right. Other nations either support tyranny and terrorism or not. And we help the ones that support us. Step by step toward a new and humane and free world order. I hope you had a nice 4th, lady, in spite of yourself.
